Title : Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant

Employment : Permanent Full Time

Department : Vocational Services

Reports to : Program Manager

As a Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant your responsibilities are :

  • Interview the individual either in-person, over the phone or via a virtual platform
  • Complete a comprehensive file review and report of your findings, including a critical analysis from all sources of information to evaluate the individual’s medical and non-medical barriers, and opportunities, vocational profile, level of function and employability
  • Develop a proactive rehabilitation plan that is timely and cost effective, including determining treatment or service needs on a continuous basis through an evaluation of medical and functional and monitoring outcomes regularly to ensure positive results
  • Implement the rehab plan through early and proactive stakeholder engagement to support the individual’s recovery including coordinating recommendations
  • Act as an intermediary and quality control between vendor reports and the referral source ensuring quality standards are met
  • Promote an individual’s self-efficacy through goal setting and motivational style interviewing with a focus on function and motivation to return to work
  • Provide regular documentation and reporting and timely communication to the referral source as well as relevant stakeholders involved
  • Independently manage a caseload of files with a focus on advocating for and identifying the most reasonable claim outcome
  • Achieve quality service standards for satisfaction, communication, timely delivery of service, and outcomes
  • Obtain an understanding of unique insurance policies and its impact on participation in rehab, access to services and execution of a rehab plan
  • Assess claim files and advise regarding the most suitable claim outcome including preparations for return to work to disability employment, claims decisions, CCP Disability offset, training for alternative employment and settlement
  • Prepare, implement and monitor gradual return to work plans with stakeholder engagement and employer negotiations

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a relevant field : vocational rehabilitation, disability management, occupational health
  • Relevant college diploma or undergraduate degree; such as in Psychology, Sociology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Career Development, Social Services, Vocational Rehabilitation, Kinesiology or a combination of relevant experience and education
  • Member in good standing with an associated regulatory body : Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP), Return to Work Disability Manager (RTWDM), Canadian Certified Vocational Evaluator (CCVE), Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC), Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP), Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC), Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC), Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Kinesiology
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset
  • Relevant Skills

  • Excellent analytical and professional writing skills
  • Strong ethical standards, practices, and professional integrity
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate with several vocational programs simultaneously
  • Ability to positively determine and impact the trajectory of a claim
  • Previous case management experience preferred
