Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in :
- Oversight of drilling investigations involving geotechnical, hydrogeological, and environmental components.
- Coordination and review of utility locates and utility drawings.
- Interpret engineering drawings / plans and reports and layout locations in the field.
- Logging of soil and rock.
- Surveying.
- Completion of SPT and Shelby tube sampling, as well as in-situ vane shear tests.
- Collection of soil samples for environmental and geotechnical testing.
- May also be involved with well development, groundwater sampling, soil gas sampling, and / or single well response testing and construction / remediation activities.
- Liaise with subcontractors, client representatives and / or agencies, as required.
- Training staff in field methods and sampling techniques.
- Working with and providing support to other members of the group in assisting with other field, laboratory and office activities as required.
- Completing clear, neat, and accurate field notes.
- May also be involved with the preparation of data tables, stratigraphic logs, scopes of work, health and safety plans.
- Adherence to GHD and client’s safety requirement including appropriate PPE.
- Requirement for travel. Projects are in generally in GTA / Greater Golden Horseshoe area with possibility for travel to Northern and Eastern Ontario (25%) depending on project opportunities.
- Estimated 95% of time outside the office in the field.
What you will bring to the team :
0 - 3 years of relevant experienceCollege Diploma in an Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology / Technician program;Working knowledge of geotechnical, hydrogeology field testing and bedrock drilling / loggingGeneral experience with the MS Office software such as Excel, Word, and TeamsWorking knowledge of MECP, MNRF, MOL and Acts & Regulations associated with the type of work being performed.Working knowledge of the following Ontario Regulations, as amended : 903, 347, 558 / 00, 153 / 04, 213 / 91, 406 / 19.Experience acting as a MOL Supervisor for larger drilling programsValid First Aid / AED Training certification.Must own a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver’s licence;Adaptable and analytical, with a willingness to ask questionsAbility to exercise sound professional judgment;Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks;Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;Team player, cooperate with other staff;Ability to meet challenging deadlines;Working in highly congested utility situations and with linear infrastructure projects considered an assetPrevious experience working on larger infrastructure projects and northern Ontario experience an assest.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; andStrong organizational skills and attention to detail with clear well written notes.
