Job description

Are you an experienced claims professional with expertise in managing complex accident claims involving bodily injury, property damage, physical damage, general liability, and cargo claims? We are looking for a Senior Accident Claims Analyst who can work independently while overseeing litigated cases and negotiating settlements with third parties. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on claims management and contribute to risk reduction efforts for the company.

Your Responsibilities :

  • Independently manage minor to serious third-party bodily injury and property damage claims.
  • Handle litigated and complex claims under the supervision of Claims leadership.
  • Regularly update internal reporting tools such as the BI book (monthly) and quarterly reports for auditors.
  • Set, recommend, and monitor claim reserves within authority limits, providing action plans to leadership for reserves beyond authority.
  • Negotiate and adjudicate claims with third parties while managing claims within authority limits.
  • Coordinate investigations with independent adjusters, attorneys, and experts.
  • Facilitate post-accident drug and alcohol testing procedures when required.
  • Notify company departments regarding accidents or injuries as appropriate : keeping other stakeholders informed.
  • Analyze claims for subrogation potential and pursue recovery where applicable.
  • Provide informed guidance to leadership on risk management and liability issues.
  • Travel as needed for accident investigations, litigation processes, and industry seminars.
  • Participate in on-call duties after hours, if required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of provincial and federal regulations in the trucking or transportation industries.
  • CIP designation (Chartered Insurance Professional) is preferred but not required.
  • Proven expertise handling complex bodily injury and property damage claims.
  • Solid understanding of tort law and provincial regulations related to claims handling.
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret legal and medical documentation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, alongside interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Teams, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated reliability and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • 5+ years of claims experience strongly preferred.
