Overview :
The Assistant Director of Care, RN at this long-term care home in Toronto oversees the Clinical Nursing Program, ensuring high-quality resident care.
This role involves managing Quality Programs, Risk Management, and Clinical Professional Development while adhering to legislative and budgetary requirements.
The Assistant Director also implements and evaluates RNAO's best practice guidelines to enhance care through evidence-based practices.
Principal Responsibilities :
- Oversee Continuous Quality Improvement & Risk Management programs, collaborating with teams, families, and residents to develop and monitor the Quality Improvement Plan (QUIP).
- Identify and implement quality initiatives, ensuring high levels of care and service with appropriate policies and procedures.
- Stay updated with LTC legislation and evidence-based practices, and implement RNAO best practice guidelines.
- Exhibit team-building, consultation, coaching, leadership, and motivational skills, with project management experience.
- Support the implementation of evidence-based practices in LTC homes.
- Ensure compliance with the Ministry of Health and other legislative requirements.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace, ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
Experience & Education :
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and an active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Masters Degree in Nursing or Administration is preferred.
- Minimum five years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with strategic leadership experience in healthcare, in Long Term Care.
- Advanced knowledge of LTC standards, applicable legislation, RAI-MDS, Quality & Risk Management, RNAO-BPSO Program, and Accreditation Canada.
- Experience in continuous quality improvement programs and risk management.
- Strong commitment to best practices and resource management.
- Administrator’s certification is an asset.
