Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Data and Digital Enablement, the Solutions Developer will collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure technical support and enhancement of Seaspan Marine Group's applications and integration landscape. This role will actively participate in maintaining and optimizing the organization's application ecosystem. This includes a strong commitment to delivering exceptional client-centered service across all projects, spanning the creation, deployment, and implementation of new products, as well as enhancements to existing infrastructure, solutions, and operations processes.

Note : This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What you'll do

Solution Support

  • Ensures the technical support and high availability of Seaspan Marine Group's application infrastructure.
  • Collaborates with the Data Architect in designing, implementing, and optimizing integrations within Microsoft's and Oracle's technology stack.
  • Monitors, troubleshoots, and debugs issues affecting the performance of the solutions.
  • Actively participates in root-cause analysis for incidents and contributes to lessons learned.
  • Enhances existing infrastructure, solutions, and processes to meet technical standards and address business requirements.

Integration Development

  • Develops APIs and other system integration components, ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Develops Azure resource components such as Azure Functions and Web Apps, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Follows sound software development practices, ensuring all code is checked into GIT and deployed using release pipelines in Azure DevOps.
  • Application Development

  • Delivers new solutions and enhancements using existing low-code tools, meeting new and changing business requirements.
  • Configures and further implements existing Ignition SCADA systems, further researching capabilities and driving their progress.
  • Documentation and Communication

  • Writes and maintains comprehensive documentation of the requirements collected, developed solutions, configuration and standards implemented.
  • Works closely with stakeholders to understand use cases and ensure developed solutions meet their needs.
  • Assists in effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms.
  • Project Collaboration

  • Supports the implementation of the Data and Digital Enablement Program's roadmap.
  • Participates in Scrum ceremonies as part of the Data and Digital Enablement team.
  • Actively contributes towards projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Works towards maintaining high standards in Seaspan Marine Group's processes, aligning them with industry best practices.
  • What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or completion of a Post-secondary Diploma in Computer Science.
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Developer in an environment using the Azure technology stack and Ignition SCADA.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as PowerShell, Python, Java, and Scala.
  • Experience using IDEs such as VS or VS Code for development and Git for version control.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps and version control practices.
  • Solid working knowledge in Azure Function Apps and Web Apps.
  • Solid knowledge of Ignition SCADA.
  • Knowledge of Oracle OCI is highly beneficial.

  • The estimated salary for this position is $92,800 - $111,300. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
