We are looking for a Claims Lawyer to join our team in our Montreal office!

As a Claims Lawyer, you will be responsible to ensure our clients and client service teams in our Commercial Insurance division receive “best in class” advocacy through the claims process to support BFL’s client intimate strategy.

Your Day as a Claims Lawyer

• Provide guidance and assistance to clients with all aspects of the claims management process including initial reporting through to final resolution and ensure prompt and fulsome communication with clients
• Collaborate with client and client service teams to advocate for clients in support of their insurance claims
• Provide internal legal advice to claims team and client service teams regarding coverage, policy wordings and other legal issues that arise
• Monitor and communicate relevant legal developments and communicate to claims team and client service teams
• Manage various lines of insurance claims with a focus on E&O liability, Directors’ & Officers’ liability, Employment Practices liability and commercial general liability.
• Collaborate with claims team members, client service teams, and/or clients to help develop value added, client-specific claims services
• Develop internal and external educational materials to augment claims service
• Collaborate with client service teams’ marketing efforts to support client retention and acquisition
• Develop claims presentations and documentation that supports promotion of “best in class” claims service
• Represent our organization at client and industry events

Our Ideal Candidate

• 2-4 years’ legal experience including insurance (insurance coverage and and/or commercial law experience is an asset)
• Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with solution-oriented approach
• Ability to manage a wide range of responsibilities ranging from legal research, internal and external presentations, claims management and industry
• Ability to balance collaboration and teamwork with independent demands
• Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in French and in English as the candidate will be required to interact in English with stakeholders outside Québec.

• Effective time management and organizational skills essential
