You will be working on the front lines of a dynamic program in Hinton providing employment and placement services to our youth. You will be working directly with employers and marketing employable individuals to various businesses based on a match between employer and the job seeker. You will work with the Employment Coaches to assist individuals in finding meaningful employment and assist employers with their human resource needs.
You must possess the ability to "trouble shoot" or think "outside of the box". In many cases this position may need to take information provided by an employer and information provided by the job seeker / Employment Coach and be able to find a solution that works for all. This is often called "carving a job". You may also be required to find employment opportunities that are not the usual standard employment for individuals.
You will need to be able to balance the needs of the job seeker with the needs of employer. You may need to utilize negotiation skills to meet objectives and negotiate placements with employers. Problem solving skills are also mandatory.
You will need to have flexibility and need the ability to adapt to changing demands as the program grows and adapts. You will need to be a part of the Team helping to grow the project and provide information and ideas on how the program can be better - but also understanding the limitations of the program.
Desired Skills
You must be outgoing and enthusiastic. You must have the ability to do cold calls both on the phone, over virtual means and in person. You need to have flexibility in your schedule to meet with employers.
You will need to have access to your own transportation, so a class 5 plus a reliable vehicle is an asset.
You will need to be able to work within a computerized environment working within databases and using the Microsoft suite of services (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). You will need to be able to log travel within the community and also ensure proper documentation is recorded in appropriate systems regarding interactions with both job seekers and employers.
You are going to need to develop connections and introduce yourself as well as the project to employers and businesses throughout the Hinton area. Having strong connections with the business community is a requirement. Experience in the hiring needs and requirements of a multitude of employers would be considered an asset.
You will need to have the ability to work to deadlines and targets. Many tasks will be time sensitive so good time management skills is essential and will assist in ensuring the pressure from work and objectives is minimized and manageable.
Teamwork is a must. This project only works if everyone works together for a common goal.
Resourcefulness and the ability to think on your feet is an asset.
