AI and Automation Systems Analyst

The Opportunity : The

City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for an AI and Automation Systems

Analyst to fill a permanent full-time position. This position is responsible for the ongoing technical support,

development, integration, and administration of enterprise-class business

applications and intelligent automation solutions. This includes the use of

emerging technologies such as AI services, machine learning models, robotic

process automation (RPA), and low-code platforms. The position supports

assigned business units in aligning business applications and automation with

operational objectives to enhance service delivery, improve efficiency, and

support data-driven decision-making.

In addition, this position will manage and / or participate in technology

projects, particularly those involving the design, deployment, and continuous

improvement of automated processes and AI-enhanced tools. The role includes

coordination with internal teams and vendors to support innovation, maintain

secure and ethical use of automation technologies, and ensure systems operate

in compliance with City policies and service expectations.

This position plays a key role in

supporting the core IT functions of Requirements Gathering, Application

Maintenance, Application Development Quality, Application Security, Application

Integration, Business Intelligence and Reporting, Business Analysis, Project

Management, and Innovation.

As our preferred candidate, you

will have :

Must have a recognized university degree in Computer

Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. A

combination of education and directly related experience may be considered

Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a

comparable technical role, including :

supporting enterprise business applications and

automation platforms in a medium-sized networked and Cloud environment

developing, configuring, or maintaining automation

workflows or scripts using tools such as Power Automate, Python, RPA platforms,

or low-code tools

supporting AI / ML services or API integrations in

business process contexts

collaborating with business units to understand and

improve operational workflows through technology

supporting medium to large-scale AI / automation

projects

a working knowledge of enterprise class database

management systems and data pipelines

familiarity with responsible AI use practices, data

privacy standards, or automation risk assessment frameworks

working with data analysis or business intelligence

tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL queries, dashboards)

working with Microsoft Azure AI services, Oracle AI,

or similar AI / automation platforms

working with line of business application systems with

a focus on AI / automation enhancements

Must demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain

effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and

technical peers

Must have the ability to work with limited supervision

and manage priorities in a dynamic environment

Must be comfortable working with emerging technologies

and their inherent ambiguity while following structured methodologies to ensure

timely deliverables

Must have excellent verbal and written communication

skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly

Must be available to perform after-hours call-out

duties on a scheduled basis

Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to

perform field service calls as required

Remuneration :

$38.36 to $57.38 per hour

Hours of Work : 75

hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some evening and

weekend work may be required when needed. This position may require availability for call-out or standby outside of regular work hours.
