Senior Manager, Accounting and Public Reporting

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is responsible for overseeing Saskatchewan's correctional system and facilities and for providing guidance and support to Saskatchewan's municipal police services.

The Accounting and Public Reporting unit in the Corporate Services Division is seeking a dynamic leader with strong interpersonal, communication and financial management skills to be the Senior Manager. This position reports to the Director, Accounting and Public Reporting. As a key member of the central accounting team, this position provides senior level expertise, advice, and interpretation on a wide range of accounting-related issues.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and strategic thinker with the ability to interpret and apply accounting principles in the development of policies and procedures to improve processes. This position requires extensive use of Microsoft Excel, MIDAS Financials and the ability to learn quickly and to think critically to support the ministry's stakeholders.

Typically, our successful candidate will have obtained the knowledge required for this position through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business Administration combined with a CPA designation and several years of progressively responsible job-related experience. A combination of skills, training, and experience providing an equivalent background will be considered.

  • Public Sector Accounting Standards and auditing standards.
  • Government, financial, budgetary and legislative processes and policies.
