Role Overview
The Manager of Logistics, Inventory, and Shipping at Miltera Machining Research Corp will lead, strategize, and oversee all logistics, inventory control, and shipping operations at our Cambridge facility. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient receipt of raw materials, precise inventory management, and timely shipment of our precision machined parts. The successful candidate will optimize supply chain processes, manage teams, and drive continuous improvements in operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Management :
- Oversee the logistics strategy for both inbound and outbound goods, with emphasis on rapid prototyping and short-run production logistics.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely delivery while minimizing costs.
- Develop and implement logistics policies tailored to the ultra-precision machining sector.
Inventory Management :
Direct inventory control activities, including stock audits, cycle counts, and ensuring inventory accuracy for materials critical to our high-precision manufacturing processes.Implement and manage inventory management systems to track stock levels, forecast needs, and prevent overstocking or shortages.Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely replenishment of specialized materials.Warehouse Operations :
Supervise warehouse staff to maintain safety, organization, and efficiency in operations that support our automated and precision-focused environment.Optimize warehouse layout for the storage of sensitive and precise components.Shipping :
Manage all aspects of the shipping process, ensuring that each product is shipped with precision to meet customer specifications.Oversee the preparation of shipping documentation, especially for international shipments, ensuring compliance with Canadian and international regulations.Team Leadership :
Lead, train, and develop a team of logistics and warehouse personnel, fostering a culture of precision, safety, and efficiency.Set performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and address any issues or training needs.Continuous Improvement :
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization within logistics operations, focusing on the unique needs of machining research.Implement best practices and leverage technology to enhance logistics and inventory management in a high-tech manufacturing setting.Compliance and Safety :
Ensure all operations comply with Canadian regulations regarding shipping, handling, and storage of goods.Maintain a safe working environment in line with Ontario’s health and safety standards.Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, inventory management, or a similar role, preferably within precision manufacturing or related industries.Proven track record of managing logistics operations, including experience with international shipping.Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.Proficient with inventory management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and negotiation skills.Knowledge of safety regulations, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable.Ability to occasionally work in a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs.Must thrive in a dynamic research environment where continuous learning and adaptation are key.Occasional travel may be required for professional development or project-specific tasks.What We Offer
