Position Title : Credit Analyst Reports To : AVP, Alternative Investments Department : Private Investments Term : Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements : This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month.

You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity : Equitable is looking for a Credit Analyst to join our Asset Management division who is passionate about Private Markets and has investment analysis experience.

What you will be doing :

  • Assist the AVP, Private Investments in the assessment, structuring, and negotiation of investment opportunities to mitigate risks and enhance returns.
  • Prepare detailed written investment proposal memorandums supporting recommendations for approval by Senior Management.
  • Monitor existing investments in the Private Placement and Commercial Mortgage portfolios to ensure compliance with respective terms and conditions and perform annual written credit reviews with recommendations for approval by Senior Management.
  • Assist the Senior Commercial Account Manager in performing effective control and performance functions in the Commercial Mortgage portfolio including the annual review process, recognizing increased risks and potential defaults, and administering borrower requests.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders for the Private Placement and Commercial Mortgage portfolios.
  • Participate in the closing and funding of investment transactions as required.
  • Assist in the evaluation and / or preparation of management reports for credit amendments or problematic accounts.

What you will bring :

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree in business, Economics, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or Math.
  • 1 to 2 years of investment experience with a focus on credit analysis, knowledge of finance, accounting, and investments.
  • Working towards obtaining a professional designation ( CPA, CFA, CIM).
  • Excellent command of MS Excel (knowledge of VBA and other programming languages is an asset).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to concisely relay information.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated capability to work independently and within a broader team.
