Senior z / OS Mainframe System Programmer

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mainframe System Programmer with deep technical expertise and hands-on experience to join our clients high-performing IT infrastructure team. This is a critical role supporting enterprise-grade mainframe systems, tools, and application environments across distributed and host systems. Key Responsibilities :

Lead the installation, upgrade, and customization of z / OS ISV software in a multi-system mainframe environment.

Act as the primary SME for installing and maintaining :

CA Suite of Products

IBM Program Products

IBM WebSphere MQ for z / OS

SAS MXG

Omegamon Suite & Boxscore

Automation tools (SA / 390, CA OPSMVS)

Provide comprehensive support to Application Development, IT Infrastructure, Operations, and Production Support teams.

Manage system performance, capacity planning, and hardware configuration to ensure high availability.

Maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) readiness and participate in DR exercises.

Use IBM and ISV support portals to manage issue tickets and resolutions.

Proactively monitor systems and implement improvements to prevent downtime.

Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations for critical support.

Required Skills & Experience :

10–20 years of experience as a z / OS Mainframe System Programmer.

Expert knowledge of :

JCL, JES2, DFSMS, DFHSM, DFDSS, SDSF, DFSORT

TSO, ISPF / PDF

Proficiency with scripting and programming languages such as REXX and COBOL.

Strong working knowledge of :

CA Technologies tools : CA-VIEW, CA-DELIVER, SYSVIEW, EASYTRIEVE, CA-1, CA-7

EOS, FOLDERS, and additional ISV products

Familiarity with UNIX / Linux, Windows, and optionally z / VM.

Skilled in performance tuning, capacity management, and root-cause analysis.
