The HART Hub Supportive Housing team willoperatea 12-bed transitional housing program where the focus is short-term housing and tailored support plans for individuals experiencing housing loss with the goal of fostering addiction recovery and housing stability. The Supervisor Supportive Housing - HART Hub willpossessand utilize their passion for coaching and developing people and teams. They will provide leadership for the program and the team by coordinating the daily operations of the program. Through co-collaboration with both internal and external partners (including participants service providers WRPS Region of Waterloo staff etc.) will allow for improved participant experience refined policies procedures improved safety and community engagement within the program. The supervisor willbe responsible forsupervising an interdisciplinary team.

  • This is a permanent salaried full-time (37.5 hours per week) position with paid sick time personal days vacation time; group health benefits and defined contribution pension plan.

Schedule will be Monday to Friday 9 : 00am to 5 : 00pm. Flexibility required including some evening and weekend hours.

Valid G class drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle completion of a Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector)requiredpre-employment.

Key Responsibilities :

Lead develop and support an interdisciplinary team working with assigned participant caseloads including staff and volunteers

Responsible for scheduling and the allocation of staff students and volunteers based on the needs of each program and / or site

Supervisory responsibilities for health and safety within the program; ensuring a physically and psychologically healthy work environment for all team members

Working with the Program manager develop and manage the program

Apply deep knowledge of the inherent risk involved in working alongside the people we serve to coach team members in mitigating risks and supporting an environment that is physically and psychologically healthy

Understand implement and be accountable to program policies and procedures including and not limitedto : incident reporting harm reduction fire prevention privacy / confidentiality

Responsible for theday to dayoperations of the assigned programs including day to day operational budget and financial functions coordination of data collection database managementstaffand participant safety

Create program related reports ( reports to the Region safetyreportsetc.)

Support the development of program related policies and procedures

Champion organizational and program change initiatives helping team members and people we support to understand the change and inviting feedback throughappropriate channels

Facilitate engagement with people we serveutilizingsurveys start stop continueexercisesand analyze quarterly results on the development of program outcomes

Responsible for the 24 / 7 program operation including day to day operations and crisis / emergency response and participation in the on-call rotation

Complete participant file audits to ensure effective case management adherence to program model

Strategic oversite on the strategy for engagement of the people we serve to ensure decision making transparency feedback and program improvement through a human centered design process

Collaboration and teamwork across many functions to achieve successincluding : housing health finance development police city / regional officials finance and other service providers and partners within Waterloo Region

Support the program leaders with administration creating reports and proposals to support and secure diverse funding opportunities

Contribute to the organizational strategic planning process and annual planning processes within the program

Designing and providing consistent quality programs that will build community and address housing stability using an equityjusticeand diversity lens

Job Specific Knowledge / Skills :

Knowledge of participant rights and responsibilities

Passion to support people experiencing trauma mental health addiction poor healthpovertyand / or homelessness

Expert conflict management skills to navigate the complex participant needs shifting government policies and diverse stakeholders need

Strong data management and reporting skills

Knowledge of local community agencies and resources is an asset

Ability to deescalate hostile situations involving individuals with tact and diplomacy

Education / Experience :

University degree or minimum3 yearcollege diploma in a related field of studyrequired

Very strongleadership team building anddecision makingskills required including demonstrated strength in coaching and developing people and teams with at least1-2 yearpreviousexperience leading a team

Demonstrated skill in building andmaintainingproductive relationships (staff community partners funders)

Experience and proven abilities in housing socialservicesand / or policy driven work ideally within a residential setting

Experience working with people who have a historyof : trauma mental health addiction poor healthpovertyand / or homelessness is preferred

Critical Skills :

Excellent project timeline and deadline management skills including skills inlogisticsand planning and detailed record keeping;

Able to model effective problem solving by recognizing the human interpersonal and technical sides of a problemshowflexibilityandexplorepossible solutionsin an innovative and creative way.

Act as a change agent; contributing to continuous improvement and the successful implementation of change initiatives.

Time off includes four (4) weeks of vacation 5 personal days and sick credits totaling approximately 12 days per year

Rate of Pay :

At House of Friendship all compensation ranges are categorized under a series of grades and we base our payment structure on internal determining rate of pay a candidates past related experience will be taken into consideration.

Grade : 5 Supervisor II

Min : $30.04

Mid : $34.47

Max : $38.91

Working Conditions :

37.5 hoursper week;generally daytimewith pre-planned evening and weekend work to support the 24 / 7 program operation

Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours emergency response

Travel throughout the Region of Waterloo for required meetings and community engagement

Encountering participants at program sites who may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs and / or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected

This role is responsible to deescalating hostile situations involving individuals with tact and diplomacy
