Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Power Systems Electrical Engineer based out of Edmonton. The successful candidate will be accountable to provide their technical expertise, engineering knowledge of electrical power systems for utilities, heavy industrial clients and some commercial applications, business development, project management, leadership and mentoring of junior engineers as needed.
Position Description & deliverables :
- Engineering Deliverables & Compliance : Develops electrical engineering documentation such as specifications, calculations, reports, and requisitions while ensuring compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and project-specific requirements.
- Project Coordination & Supervision : Oversees day-to-day engineering interfaces between project management, engineering teams, and EPC / MOC contractors, ensuring effective collaboration across disciplines and alignment with project goals.
- Design Review & Vendor Documentation : Participates in design reviews and engineering changes, providing technical input and ensuring stakeholders are informed; reviews and approves vendor documentation for compliance with specifications.
- Site Surveys & Reporting : Conducts site surveys to assess existing installations, gather data, and provide comprehensive reports with findings and recommendations to inform design and execution strategies.
- Technical Support & Communication : Provides engineering support throughout procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, acting as a liaison between various stakeholders and ensuring clear communication of technical aspects.
What you bring to the table :
P.Eng. designation with at least 5 years experience in power system design and studiesElectrical power system studies (load flow, short circuits, arc flash, motor starting, grounding, etc.)Experience and working knowledge of ETAPStrong project execution skills & experience, specializing in MOC processesPreparing Design and Project PackagesCoordinating with subcontractors & responding to RFIsHigh / medium / low voltage electrical design & technical report writingKnowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code C22.1-21 Part 1Knowledge of IEEE Standards related to medium and high voltage installations and studiesMedium voltage switchgear design & high voltage substation designDesign of medium and high voltage protection systems & relays (schematics, wiring & settings)What we bring to the table :
