Position Title : Lifeguard / Swim Instructor

Location : Cheam Leisure Centre - 45501 Market Way, Chilliwack, BC V2R (Primary)

Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre - 9145 Corbould St, Chilliwack, BC V2P 4A6 (Secondary)

Terms : Part-Time, Permanent

Hours : 4-24hours per week

Shift : Shifts vary but will include weekdays, evenings, and weekends

Start Date :   As soon as possible

Salary : $23.01-25.44 per hour

Reports To : Supervisor, Aquatics

The Lifeguard / Swim Instructor will report to the Aquatics Supervisor and work collaboratively with other members of the YMCA team to provide a safe and fun aquatics environment.

Major Responsibilities -  in this position, you will :

• Guard and teach swimming lessons in a positive and professional manner
• Develop and lead lesson plans for various programs and administer progressive evaluations for participants
• Enforce pool rules and safety regulations
• Perform water rescues and administer first aid or CPR when necessary
• Build meaningful relationships through positive daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues
• Perform routine pool maintenance, as required
• Perform general administrative duties and record keeping responsibilities
• Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property, by following YMCA standards / policies / procedures and ensuring they are maintained among all members and staff
• Promote philanthropy through the annual fundraiser campaign
• Strong work ethic and able to remain flexible
• Assist with training new staff / volunteers in procedures and practices
