This role supports the Director - Fraud Management & Corporate Security ("FMCS"), Manager - Corporate Security, and the FMCS team in execution of their mandate for Meridian Credit Union, motusbank, and Meridian OneCap (collectively Meridian ).
The position’s key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) :
- Serve as a Physical Security Subject Matter Expert ( SME ) for Meridian.
- Conduct physical risk assessments on a regular cadence and create applicable documentation.
- Assist with Corporate Security investigations (internal fraud, physical security, etc.)
- Respond to External Agency Requests ( EARs ).
- Liaise and build relationships with law enforcement, intelligence agencies, other industry SMEs, industry peers, and other Meridian stakeholders.
Day to Day Operations :
- Support all aspects of the Corporate Security program to manage Meridian’s risk tolerance.
- Provide support to proactively enhance the Corporate Security program.
- Execute physical risk assessments of Meridian locations as required. Create reports that communicate findings and develop recommendations to the first line of defence.
- Work closely with Property Management to implement and document systems, tools, risks, and controls used to prevent, detect, mitigate, analyze, and respond to physical security threats and incidents.
- Support the first line of defence to assess risks and controls, as appropriate, as part of new location or existing location renovation projects.
- Develop relationships and intelligence channels with industry peers and other relevant parties to identify industry best practices, innovations, technology, emerging threats, recent security incidents, and other information relevant to the Corporate Security program.
Communicate findings to leadership and key internal stakeholders as appropriate.
- Accurately log and complete EARs by their legislative deadlines to gather and report applicable information as mandated by law enforcement, the Canada Revenue Agency ( CRA ), etc.
- Support and conduct applicable internal investigations and make recommendations based on findings. Exercise tact and diplomacy at all times when dealing with stakeholders and maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in the context of each investigation.
Use every opportunity to identify potential control weaknesses and escalate to FMCS Leadership for further review and action.
- Monitor and track Branch / Treasury differences to identify emerging risk trends and patterns.
- Maintain an efficiency and effectiveness mindset that focuses on continual improvement, innovation, and iteration on existing processes and the FMCS program as a whole.
- Help develop training materials, as appropriate (e.g. Emergency Situations, Robberies, etc.).
- Execute SQL reports and support automatic daily reporting for FMCS and the AML team.
- Cross-train and support FMCS and the AML team as appropriate
- Complete video footage requests from internal and external parties
- Support Meridian during emergency and highly-sensitive situations.
- Proactively assist with updates to policy, procedure, and other relevant enterprise documents.
Meridian / Member Focus :
- Identify opportunities to change / enhance / eliminate redundant processes and practices that are mutually beneficial to FMCS and Meridian stakeholders.
- Resolve outstanding issues, incidents, and requests within the scope of the role, while maintaining a Member-centric focus and commitment to Member experience.
- Serve as a brand ambassador and representative of FMCS on projects, initiatives, or other engagements. Provide outstanding quality service to all stakeholders and partners.
- Actively participate and provide input during presentations and team meetings.
- Effectively manage expectations, multiple priorities, and competing deadlines.
- Provide timely responses and turnarounds to all communications and escalate as appropriate.
- Remain committed to self-directed learning and development, remain up to date on industry trends and best practices, and look for opportunities for further development.
