Duties

Visitor Services Visitor Information Centre / Entrance Gates / Camping

Welcome visitors in person or over the phone and give them information and directions regarding facilities, services, programs, events and regulations.

Record, process and collect fees, issue permits, make reimbursements, sell and assign campsites where applicable. Work with a cash register, compile and record statistical data, fill out forms, sales reports and bank deposits, and use a computer system or point of sale and booking system.

Intent of the process

This process is intended to fill existing vacancy(ies) and may be used to fill anticipated vacancy(ies) and / or used to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures (Indeterminate, Acting, Assignment, Deployment, Secondment, Specified period, Seasonal), security levels or linguistic profiles for the Northern New Brunswick Field Unit.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION :

Successful completion of secondary school education or Public Service Commission approved alternatives, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

EXPERIENCE :

  • Experience in interacting with the public in a reception / orientation capacity;
  • Experience in anticipating / meeting public needs, resolving complaints, anticipating / detecting incidents and finding solutions;
  • Experience in handling cash and operating point of sales;
  • Asset) Experience with information technology (computer, equipment, software).

Bilingual - Imperative( B / B)

Must be able to speak fluently English and French.

A Second Language Evaluation will be completed for your second official language.

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Possession of a valid First Aid and CPR certification (training provided);
  • Possession of a valid Driver's license;
  • Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and / or statutory holidays and provincial / territorial holidays;
  • Willingness to work and / or travel in varied terrains, weather conditions, and by various means of transportation;
  • Willingness to perform certain physical tasks as per job requirements (e.g. lifting up to 20 kg); Position requires moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods and / or to clean facilities / grounds, bending, and stretching;

lifting supplies, tools and equipment such as sweeping walkways and stairs; picking up litter and trash.
