About the Position

Under the direction of the Senior Lifeguards (and the Supervisor of Aquatics and recreation Programs), Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy learning / recreational environment during all Aquatics Program offerings. Lifeguards must also maintain constant surveillance of patrons at the facility to ensure everyone's safety and to immediately and effectively address and resolve any concerns with patrons.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for facilitating a variety of aquatic programs and activities at the outdoor pools and therapy pool.
• Maintain constant surveillance of patrons to ensure safety, administering first aid as needed following City of Welland procedures.
• Maintain physical fitness to perform National Lifeguard skills and attend all required training and in-service sessions.
• Understand and execute all policies and emergency procedures thoroughly.
• Respond effectively to safety concerns and emergencies using critical thinking and sound decision-making.
• Ensure safety during events on the recreational canal.
• Perform facility maintenance tasks, including water testing, cleaning equipment, supplies, and public bathrooms.
• Perform other related duties, including administrative tasks, as assigned.

$20.85 - $21.68 (2024 Rate) Plus OMERS pension is available
