Overview
Provides quality laboratory testing in the Core Lab/ Hematology by observing the highest standards of accuracy, efficiency and safety according to established procedures and policies (IQMH Standards). Ensures that the MLT's and Lab Technicians in the Core Lab/Hematology department of Lab Medicine adhere to the above standards. Maintains open lines of communication with the Director/Manager of Lab Medicine, staff in other lab areas and nursing areas. Maintains and updates procedure manuals and teaching/training material.
EDUCATION
- Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technologist program.
- Active registration with the CMLTO (General or Core MLT).
- Advanced certification with the CSMLS in Hematology or equivalent preferred.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 to 5 years clinical experience in Core Lab/Hematology with demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge in problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated working knowledge in Chemistry and Blood Bank required
- Strong demonstrated leadership abilities and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate and function under pressure
- Good attendance and work record required
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrate interest in continuing personal and professional growth.
- Mature responsible judgment with demonstrated critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to communicate clearly, teach, problem solve and organize.
- Self-motivated with the ability to guide and motivate staff
- Ability to lead work well in cooperation with co-workers and other departments.
- Flexibility and willingness to work as part of team.
- Good work and attendance record required.
