Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Centre for Technology, Environment & Design (CTED), the successful candidate will be responsible for instruction, curriculum development, and for fostering relationships with the broader community. The successful candidate will fulfill the following responsibilities:

• Full-time Faculty Position contract as identified by the Lethbridge College Faculty Association collective agreement;

• Contribute to the goals and activities of CTED;

Position Details Any previous teaching experience would be an asset along with strong communication skills and a willingness for professional development. A 2-week New Instructor Orientation training program is mandatory and is offered at Lethbridge College from August 6-15. Teaching duties commence September 4.

The primary assignment will be within the Renewable Resource Management (RRM), Environmental Assessment & Restoration (EAR), Natural Resource Compliance (NRC), and the Bachelor of Ecosystem Management (ECM) programs. Responsibilities will include:

• Delivering courses congruent with established course curricula and program outcomes;
• Supporting the success of students with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and learning styles;
• Assessing student learning in ways that both facilitate learning and ensure achievement against appropriate academic standards;
• Contributing to course and program curriculum development and renewal;
• Working collegially within the School, Centre or College committees and project teams.

The primary instructional assignment would be as follows: (Official course descriptions can be found in the back of the Lethbridge College Academic Calendar :

RRM-2264 Forest Management: A strong background in forest ecology is required along with experience in timber operations and planning, as well as silviculture. Technical field experience in dendrology, tree measurement, forest inventory and timber harvest planning and operations are a must.

RRM-2299 Fire Management: A strong background in fire weather, fire behaviour, wildfire operations, fire ecology, and prescribed fire management would be required. Application of the Fire Weather Index (FWI) and Fire Behaviour Prediction (FBP) Systems would be an important asset.

RRM-2250 Grassland and Forest Resources: This is a team-taught course where the successful candidate would be responsible for delivering the forestry outcomes specific to this course in a compressed format. *Additional courses may be added depending on successful candidate’s skill set. Required Qualifications A Master of Science in a forest related discipline (ecology, fire, etc.) to allow for cross-teaching into the Bachelor of Ecosystem Management. A Master of Science in-progress will also be considered. The successful candidate will require a minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry with significant years of field experience in forest management and fire management. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills necessary to contribute positively to a team environment.
