Halifax C&D Recycling, part of The Municipal Group of Companies, is currently seeking a bright, individual for the permanent, full-time position as a skilled Site Supervisor to join our operations based out of Dartmouth, NS.

Job Summary :

As a Site Supervisor at Halifax C+D Recycling, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of our facility. You will ensure that materials are processed efficiently, in compliance with environmental regulations, and contribute to our sustainability goals.

Working closely with the recycling team, equipment operators, and administrative staff, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the recycling facility, ensuring efficient processing of incoming materials and timely delivery of recycled products.
  • Scale House duties as required.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of recycling personnel, including sorters, equipment operators, and maintenance staff, to achieve production targets and quality standards.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures, conducting regular inspections, and providing training to employees on safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits, including waste disposal, recycling targets, and pollution prevention measures.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for recycling equipment and machinery, minimizing downtime and optimizing performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and waste reduction initiatives, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
  • Any other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience :

  • A strong background in recycling operations, with at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within the recycling industry.
  • Excavator and Loader operator knowledge is considered an asset.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of recycling personnel, including sorters, equipment operators, and maintenance staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices related to recycling operations, waste management, and pollution prevention.
  • Proficiency in implementing safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Strong organizational abilities to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records of recycling activities.
  • Proven ability to identify challenges, develop solutions, and make decisions to optimize recycling processes and minimize downtime.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate tasks, provide instructions, and address issues with team members and management.
