Personal Support Workers (PSWs) will provide care to individuals who need assistance as they deal with the effects of aging, injury, surgery, or illness. Please note that this is a relocation position.
As a Personal Support Worker , you will :
Assist clients with personal care such as bathing and dressingProvide companionshipTake clients for outings or exercisePerform basic meal preparationPerform light housekeeping duties such as washing dishes, taking out the garbage, doing patient's laundry, vacuuming and dustingProvide respite while the primary caregiver is out of the homeRemind clients about their medicationTake clients to appointments or shoppingBe a part of the client's total care programAct upon delegated tasks as required within your scope of practiceSkills and Experience Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.Understand and respect economic, cultural, religious, racial, and gender diversity to provide inclusive and sensitive care to clients from various backgrounds.Proficiency with computer and phone applicationsExperience in performing advanced, comprehensive health assessments in person or over a telemedicine platformPhysical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach, ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg)Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful and courteous mannerExcellent problem solving, time management, and crisis resolution skillsExceptional customer service and ability to build a therapeutic relationship with the clientEducation and Certifications Required
Have one of the following qualifications :Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or the Ministry of Education approved programRN / RPN, Paramedic, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy student with a minimum successful completion of year one of the programHolds a valid certificate as a Home Support Worker (level II or III), Health Care Aide, or Personal AttendantHolds a valid certificate as a Developmental Support WorkerInternationally licensed Nurse, Midwife or PhysicianValid Standard First Aid and Level C CPRUpdated immunization records (including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months)Clear criminal background check, and Vulnerable sector check are required upon hireValid G2 / G driver's license and access to a reliable car. Candidates without a vehicle will not be considered.Requirements
