About the Job
- Type : Full time, Permanent
- Wage : $24 / hr + $0.50 shift differential while on the afternoon shift or weekend day shift
- Shifts : Thursday - Monday on either a steady Day shift or a 2 week swing shift (2 weeks of days, 2 weeks of afternoons)

Under close supervision, the Diesel Mechanic Technician II performs minor to average routine maintenance and repair services on different types of vehicles. Works with the assistance of a T3, T4, TIC, SS or SM, when performing highly technical and superior diagnostic type repairs. Task assignments are directed by shop management to encourage development in a productive manner. The T2 Diesel Mechanic Technician performs minor to average repairs and routine maintenance under limited supervision. The Diesel Mechanic T2 may be assigned to work / train directly with a T3 or T4.
Essential Functions
PERFORMS VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR DUTIES INCLUDING :
Performs standard vehicle maintenancePerforms standard component inspections and repairsPerforms preventive maintenanceDiagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicableIdentifies root cause of basic failures / conditions and perform repairs as requiredReplace defective components as instructedUtilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation availableInteracts with customers / drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a taskPerforms facility maintenance dutiesWorks in accordance with all federal / provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)Additional Responsibilities
Tire and Wheel Maintenance : Tire / Wheel safety trained within 90 days (TW208)Preventive Maintenance : PM trained and qualified within 90 days (PM230 & PM298)Brake-Hydraulic : Brake Hydraulic trained and qualified within 90 days (BH220 & BH298)Brakes-Air : Brake Air trained and qualified within 90 days (BA220 & BA298)A / C & HeaterCargo Handling / Transfer, LiftgatesCharging Systems (electrical)Cranking Systems (electrical)Lighting System and Electrical AccessoriesClutchCooling SystemsDrive AxlesDrive LineDiesel / Gas Engines – All EnginesFuel SystemsSteering and Non Driven Axles and AlignmentSuspension–Chassis and CabVehicle Coupling System (PM)Performs other support duties as assigned to support operations.
