Manitoba Finance is seeking qualified candidates for various Tax Auditor positions for the Taxation Division.
Conditions of Employment :
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Must have the ability to travel extensively within and outside of Manitoba by vehicle and / or air transportation
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers licence and be able to provide own transportation for ground travel within Manitoba
- Must have the ability to travel for periods up to two weeks at a time, and up to six-to-eight weeks per year
- Completion of satisfactory credit screening and credit check (required for some positions)
Qualifications : Essential :
Completion of post-secondary education in accounting and enrolled in the intermediate levels of the Canadian CPA programExtensive experience in auditing and / or accountingStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to take initiative and work independently under minimum supervisionStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop respectful and collaborative working relationships with various stakeholdersExperience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and OutlookExcellent verbal communication skillsExcellent written communication skillsDesired :
Knowledge of computer-assisted audit software and techniquesExperience applying and interpreting the tax statutes administered by the division (such as the Retail Sales Tax Act / Health and Post Secondary Tax Levy Act, International Fuel Tax Agreement, and International Registration Plan)Duties : The Tax Auditor position involves the audit of medium sized businesses under the various statutes administered by the Taxation Division including the Retail Sales Tax Act and the Health and Post Secondary Education Tax Levy Act, International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and International Registration Plan (IRP). The Tax Auditor is responsible to complete and finalize audits with senior officials of the businesses and will be required to provide interpretations of taxation statutes to taxpayers, accountants, lawyers, and the general public, with minimum supervision. The position also may assist in auditing larger businesses within and outside of the province.
