Job Overview : We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Vulnerability Management Coordinator to lead and coordinate the vulnerability management efforts across the organization. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the identification, assessment, remediation, and reporting of vulnerabilities across the entire IT infrastructure, including cloud and on-premises environments. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., security, IT, development) to ensure timely and effective mitigation of vulnerabilities and support continuous improvement of the vulnerability management process. A strong understanding of vulnerability management tools, risk assessment, and remediation strategies is essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Vulnerability Assessment Coordination : Manage and coordinate vulnerability scanning processes, ensuring timely and accurate identification of vulnerabilities across all systems, applications, and networks. Oversee the scheduling and execution of regular vulnerability scans using a variety of tools.
  • Vulnerability Prioritization & Risk Assessment : Work closely with security teams to prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk level, business impact, and exploitability. Use established frameworks (e.g., CVSS, risk-based scoring) to categorize vulnerabilities and develop remediation timelines.
  • Remediation Oversight : Collaborate with IT, development, and infrastructure teams to ensure the proper and timely remediation of identified vulnerabilities. Track and report on remediation progress, ensuring that critical vulnerabilities are addressed within established SLAs.
  • Vulnerability Reporting & Metrics : Develop and maintain vulnerability management dashboards and reports to track the status of vulnerability remediation efforts. Provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders on vulnerability trends, risk posture, and remediation status.
  • Patch Management Support : Coordinate the patch management process, ensuring that security patches are applied across all systems and applications in a timely manner. Ensure that patching efforts are aligned with vulnerability remediation priorities.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Act as the primary point of contact for vulnerability management issues. Work closely with IT, operations, and development teams to ensure vulnerabilities are effectively addressed and mitigated, and security best practices are followed.
  • Process Improvement : Continuously assess and improve the vulnerability management process, identifying areas for improvement in scanning, reporting, prioritization, and remediation workflows. Recommend and implement automation and optimization strategies to improve efficiency.
  • Security Compliance & Auditing : Ensure that the vulnerability management program aligns with organizational security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, NIST). Support audit and compliance efforts related to vulnerability management activities.
  • Training & Awareness : Provide guidance and training to internal teams on vulnerability management best practices, secure coding, and remediation techniques to foster a security-conscious culture across the organization.

Key Skills & Qualifications :

  • Vulnerability Management Expertise : Proven experience in vulnerability management, including vulnerability scanning, risk assessment, and remediation. Familiarity with popular vulnerability management tools (e.g., Qualys, Nessus, Rapid7).
  • Security Frameworks & Standards : Strong understanding of security frameworks and best practices, such as NIST, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, and PCI-DSS. Knowledge of industry-standard vulnerability scoring and prioritization methods (e.g., CVSS).
  • Risk Management : Ability to assess the potential risk and business impact of vulnerabilities and provide recommendations on remediation strategies. Familiarity with risk-based approaches to vulnerability management.
  • Patch Management : Experience coordinating patch management efforts across diverse environments (cloud, on-premises, hybrid). Understanding of patching processes and best practices for minimizing downtime and mitigating risks.
  • Reporting & Metrics : Ability to create and present clear, actionable reports on vulnerability management status, trends, and progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Tools & Technologies :
  • Experience with vulnerability management platforms (e.g., Qualys, Nessus, Rapid7, IONIX, Tenable).
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Azure Sentinel) for integrating vulnerability data and automating reporting.
  • Knowledge of cloud security tools and vulnerability management in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Certifications :
  • CompTIA Security+ or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC).
  • Certified Vulnerability Assessor (CVA) or similar vulnerability management certifications.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or other security-related certifications are a plus.
  • Offensive Security Certified Professional OSCP
  • Project Coordination : Experience managing vulnerability remediation projects and working with cross-functional teams to ensure successful and timely outcomes.
  • Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate vulnerability management issues and remediation efforts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail : High level of attention to detail, particularly when reviewing vulnerability scan results, remediation status, and risk assessments.
  • Preferred Experience :

  • Experience in cloud security , particularly with vulnerability management in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with automation tools for vulnerability scanning and patch management (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with incident response and how vulnerability management ties into broader security incident management processes.
  • Attributes & Characteristics :

  • Organized : Able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders while maintaining a clear view of vulnerability remediation status and progress.
  • Collaborative : Works well with cross-functional teams (IT, security, development) to drive vulnerability remediation efforts and ensure a secure environment.
