Position Overview

Under general direction of the Director and functioning as an integral part of the Administrative Human Resource Services team, the HR and Benefits Administrator works independently to administer pension, benefits, HRIS data integrity, position maintenance, reporting, HR administrative and client services support functions for the Faculty of Arts and Science.

  • The HR and Benefits Administrator is responsible for : providing frontline benefits information and advice to a variety of employee groups;
  • conducting group and individual benefits orientation sessions; responding to basic inquiries related to applicable collective agreements and HR policies and practices;
  • preparing job postings based on a thorough understanding of the position requirements and needs of the department; posting positions on the University’s career site and arranging for all external advertising;
  • assisting the team with recruitment, job evaluation, and salary administration; preparing routine correspondence; providing administrative support to the Director and the team;

producing various reports for analysis; and conducting research and compiling data in support of special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION :

University degree in a relevant discipline, plus completion of related professional development courses in pursuit of CHRP designation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE :

Minimum two (2) years’ of recent and related human resources experience in various functional areas. Experience in interpreting and applying policies, collective agreements, and employment-related legislation.

Knowledge of benefit and payroll policies, procedures and processes. Experience with recruitment and knowledge of the University of Toronto’s employment policies and collective agreements are assets.

SKILLS :

Keyboarding skills, proficiency with Microsoft365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Experience with HRIS and numeracy skill is essential.

Experience with SuccessFactor, Zoom, and Adobe Acrobat Pro are assets. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, prioritization, analytical and proven administrative skills.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to the University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto's Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline .
