The Position :
Boarding Staff engage boarding students in activities both academic and personal and ensure individual needs, strengths and talents are developed. They provide support for students and have empathy for the social and emotional issues adolescents may face in a Boarding School setting. Boarding Staff work closely and collaborates with the Head of the Boarding School, Assistant Head of Boarding, Health Care Providers, Faculty, parents and other boarding staff members to ensure continuity of care and support for students.
Boarding staff are approachable, attentive, reliable, supportive and understanding members of the Boarding community who are enthusiastically engaged in the life of the school. Boarding Staff are required to live on campus during the school year (and move out at the end of June). They must be able to commit to working a rotating schedule of mornings, evenings and weekends.
Operationally, boarding staff support the Head of Boarding to oversee and manage a supportive and inclusive boarding program that contributes to a dynamic and forward-focused boarding life program. This program is designed to develop skills, create opportunities for social engagement, and promote healthy active living and social / emotional wellbeing. The team creates a safe and vibrant home environment. This requires the development of a collaborative working relationship with the boarding team as well as all departments within the school and other independent schools in the city of Toronto.
