The Program Manager, Heritage Resources, plays a key leadership role in advancing the City’s commitment to cultural heritage conservation and archaeological stewardship. This position supports the delivery of heritage initiatives in alignment with the Ontario Heritage Act, Planning Act, and the City’s Official Plan.
As a subject matter expert, the Program Manager develops and implements policies, incentive programs, and capital projects that protect and celebrate the City’s heritage assets. The role provides technical expertise and guidance in the review of development applications, heritage designations, archaeological assessments, and conservation projects.
The Program Manager leads the administration of the Heritage Property Tax Relief Program and identifies funding opportunities to support heritage conservation. The position also provides project management support for restoration and rehabilitation of City‑owned heritage properties, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and best practices.
Working collaboratively across departments, advisory committees, Indigenous communities, and external partners, the Program Manager promotes awareness and engagement in heritage conservation. The role also provides mentorship and performance feedback to a small team of heritage professionals, interns, and volunteers, fostering a culture of inclusion, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
