Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project (WLNG) is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, and will have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and will produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Position

The Senior Instrumentation & Controls Specialist is integral to Woodfibre LNG’s project management team. You will oversee portions of the engineering, construction and commissioning project, ensure compliance with the project’s legal and contractual environmental requirements, and contribute to Woodfibre LNG’s enduring dedication to corporate social responsibility. The successful candidate reports directly to the Engineering Manager and will be essential in supporting the company’s engineering and senior management team.

Key Responsibilities :

The successful applicant will :

• Support the Engineering Manager and interface with other engineering disciplines and contractors to deliver the project on time and within budget.
• Act as the technical authority for instrumentation and control systems throughout engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of the LNG facility.
• Review and approve engineered deliverables including Instrument Index, Shutdown Keys, Datasheets, Control Narratives, and P&IDs to ensure compliance with WLNG Basis of Design and Canadian regulatory standards.
• Oversee EPC contractor performance for instrumentation and control scope, including integration of ICSS, SIS, and Fire & Gas systems.
• Coordinate and supervise Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), and commissioning activities for instrumentation and control systems.
• Provide technical support during installation, calibration, configuration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation devices and control systems.
• Interface with BC Hydro and EPC contractor on technical aspects of the 138 kV transmission system extension and related control integration.
• Support commissioning and turnover documentation, including loop checks, system completions, and final handover packages.
• Establish strong working relationships with WLNG stakeholders, EPC contractor, vendors, and service providers to resolve technical issues and maintain project schedule.
• Communicate critical project information and progress to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and compliance with contractual obligations.
• Establish working relationships with stakeholders within the Company, equipment manufacturers, other vendors, and service providers.
• Monitor contractor performance for compliance with contract requirements.
• Communicate critical project information and status to internal and external stakeholders.
