What qualifications are we looking for?
National Lifeguard - Pool certification
Standard First Aid (recertified within the last 36 months)
CPR C certification (recertified within the last 12 months)
Lifesaving Instructor would be considered an asset
Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search
Three professional references
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Lifeguards will :
Ensure a safe aquatic environment by following National Lifeguard standards and / or YMCA Policies and Procedures
Demonstrate exceptional customer service
Are knowledgeable of YMCA programs and services
Complete administrative tasks, update class rosters, lesson plans, check equipment, clean equipment, perform light maintenance tasks when not guarding or instructing
Perform all scheduled water tests
Keep pool area clean and organized
Respond to emergencies according to National Lifeguard standards and / or YMCA Policies and Procedures
Work as a team; communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and members in all situations.
Attend all scheduled in-services
Attend all necessary YMCA training
Fund Development
Participate in the Staff and Volunteer aspect of the Annual Campaign
