Responsibilities
- Project Technical Leadership – Provide technical oversight, problem solving and coordination of project engineering work.
- Support system startup, integration and buy‑off.
- Assist in systems design and development of system concepts and labor hours in quotation preparation.
- Participate in design reviews and execution planning.
- Manage project technical risk, highlight high‑risk areas and create mitigation plans.
- Model and conduct experiments on high‑risk system elements to validate design assumptions.
- Manage and monitor process‑critical third‑party equipment vendors to ensure compliance with requirements, budget and schedule.
- Conduct acceptance tests and approve process‑critical third‑party equipment.
- Learn customer processes, becoming the local expert and support integration of as‑built machine.
- Develop, design and / or manage proof‑of‑principle studies.
- Prepare systems‑level design calculations (accuracy, metrology, kinematics, reliability, process capability, gauge capability, cycle‑time, OEE).
- Perform hands‑on testing.
- Define and verify requirements : prepare, compile and document design requirements (e.g., Functional Requirements Specifications).
- Evaluate and document design outputs for conformance (Acceptance Test Plans).
- Evaluate overall machine system performance (MOEE, cycle time, availability, yield).
- Prepare Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (pFMEAs, mFMEAs, dFMEAs) and safety risk assessments.
- Translate customer and industry requirements into technical specifications for third‑party equipment (Vendor Technical Specifications).
Qualifications
Post‑secondary degree in Systems Design, Engineering Physics, Engineering Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent.P. Eng license required to be titled “Engineer” in Ontario.3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, controls or systems engineering support, preferably in an automation environment and with customer interaction.Thorough knowledge of robotics, machine controls and manufacturing processes.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).Excellent communication and leadership skills.Ability to lead or work as part of a multi‑disciplinary project team.Additional Information
