The Office of the King's Printer requires a Publications Designer to fulfill duties in the areas of publications design and layout, consolidation of legislation and publishing using various electronic programs and processes. Duties include the layout and design of electronic and paper publications and consolidating legislation. The Designer is required to have excellent grammatical, organizational and communication skills and the ability to work professionally and tactfully with government and private sector clients and stakeholders. The successful applicant will have the ability to work with a number of publishing and word processing software programs. The skills and knowledge required for this position include formal training in the areas of graphic design and experience in the printing, communications, graphic arts or pre-press industries.
To qualify for this position, you will have proven knowledge of:
- Typesetting, graphic design and layout, including style sheets and forms
- Computer applications applications including web browsers such as Edge, Chrome and Firefox; Adobe software such as InDesign, Acrobat Pro; Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel; along with WordPerfect and digitization software, as related to graphic design and printing processes
- The legislative process as it relates to government printing and visual identity standards
- Basic accounting procedures and related government processes and services, such as measuring and pricing
You will have demonstrated the ability to:
- Use a variety of publishing and word processing software programs
- Work with electronic file management systems, including archival/retrieval systems and indexing
- Utilize excellent grammatical, organizational and communication skills in order to verbally and/or in writing communicate effectively with co-workers, the public, clients and stakeholders within and outside of government
- Organize time and manage tasks independently and co-operatively with others within a team environment in order to establish, build and maintain effective, efficient and positive working relationships
