Job description

The main role for the Health Visitor (HV) is to be the designated named HV for all children within their caseload from antenatal to school entry age, excluding the unborn child. This involves initiating the child’s planning process. The HV is responsible for monitoring the child’s wellbeing and assessing any identified needs. They will work in partnership with the child’s family and involved agencies to develop and monitor a child's plan.

The postholder is accountable for maintaining clinical, staff, and information governance standards.

What you'll need to bring

Registration requirements :

  • Registered nurse or midwife at degree level or equivalent
  • Post-registration qualification in Health Visiting / Public Health Nursing and registration on Part 3 of the NMC register

Qualifications & Knowledge :

  • Educated to Masters level in a relevant nursing area, or
  • Equivalent knowledge demonstrated through completed NES modules on Assessment, Leadership, and Critical Thinking
  • Knowledge of legislation related to information sharing, data storage, and public protection
  • Understanding of health and social care pathways related to safeguarding, early intervention, and protection
  • Qualities and Skills :

  • Experience in caseload management and planning
  • Experience working in partnership with families using a strength-based approach
  • Proficiency with assessment tools for referral decisions
  • Critical thinking skills for managing risks and making effective decisions
  • Ability to provide professional advice in multi-agency settings prioritizing children's safety
  • Leadership in discussions and decision-making in complex situations
  • Capability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and service improvements
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Please note : A full UK / EU / EEA driving licence is required where applicable.

    Contract details :
  • Permanent
  • Full-time, 37 hours / week
  • Location and Working Pattern :

    Based in Hamilton Locality with work hours from Monday to Friday, 9 : 00 to 17 : 00.
