We are seeking a Plant Manager to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. You will oversee the activities of a team of production supervisors and workers.

Plant Manager Job Duties

The Plant Manager will physically oversee all daily manufacturing and assembly operations of the plant and ensure policies and procedures are followed.

It is imperative for success in this role that a hands on approach be taken to participate and learn each station of the assembly process in order to implement positive change regarding efficiency and quality control on individual stations as well as the entire production workflow.

Then, they will develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Responsibilities :

  • Be physically present on the plant floor the majority of the day to learn and improve assembly procedures as well as quality control
  • Work and learn from direct reports. Drawing from their experience and input to provide solutions to department and plant wide shortcomings
  • Implement and monitor processes immediately upon realization of quality control issues
  • Improve communication and flow between departments
  • Once station and process knowledge is obtained, develop and maintain metrics to track and analyze production and quality control
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
  • Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
  • Commit to plant safety procedures
  • Address employees’ issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements
  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
  • Coordinate the daily activities of the production and operation teams
  • Delegate production assignments to appropriate teams and personnel
  • Place production orders from customers
  • Inspect all materials and equipment to detect malfunctions
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

Qualifications :

Proven managerial experience

Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)

  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Previous experience in production, manufacturing, or other related fields
  • Knowledge of production tools and equipment
  • Strong leadership qualities
