The Maintenance Manager will develop a well engaged team of cleaners and maintenance personnel who understand their importance in delivering a great experience for our guests and fellow team members.

All buildings (Discovery Centre, Glacier Skywalk, and Employee Camp) are kept clean and well maintainedOverall safety of our facilities as they pertain to our guests and staffDevelop a preventative maintenance program all facilities with appropriate checklists, and follow upMaintain a positive working relationship with key partners including our waste water partners, Parks Canada, suppliers and repair personnelBeing an active member of the management team of the Columbia IcefieldAll regular maintenance of our facilities located at the Columbia IcefieldAnnual start up and shut down of Icefield facilitiesOffer suggestions for capital improvements at that will improve efficiency, drive a positive guest and employee experience, and allow us to become better environmental stewardsMotivating our maintenance team and ensuring clean and neat facilitiesManage contractors within Icefield facilitiesLeadership responsibilities of 3 or more departments, and ability to delegate effectivelyAchieving revenue targets, and managing expenses to desired net operating targetsDevelop budgets with senior leadership, forecast expensesManage expenses relative to expectationsHire, train, schedule and onboarding new staff membersDevelop, revise and update training materials to ensure training is consistently deliveredHold staff accountable to all duties and expectations as laid out in the training materialsProvide an environment whereby maximized staff engagement is the cultureKeep all inventory storage and work areas organized, clean, and void of clutterProvide on the floor leadership and role modelling for staffEnsure that team leadership assets are efficiently usedEnsure all communications to customers and colleagues are professional in nature and crafted with respectUphold uniform and appearance standardsActively participating in team’s activities during and after operational hoursBeing on call 1 night per week at our staff accommodation (MOD program)Active member of the Columbia Icefield Management team, supporting peers & continually working at building a cohesive team which works together to achieve results.

Assisting in opening and closing of our staff accommodation, task can vary from cleaning, employee move in / out, uniform cleaning and common room cleaningOther duties as assignedWhat skills and experience do you need for this job?

3+ years of leadership experienceStrong communication and organizational skillsProven ability to troubleshoot problems, create and implement solutionsPower engineer or other trade is a definite assetWell rounded in plumbing, carpentry, operation of boilers, heating and electrical systemsHands on managerStrong relationship building skillsHiring and performance management experiencePossess excellent conflict management skillsValid Canadian driver’s license (with less than 5 demerit points)Able to communicate fluently in English, secondary language skills are an assetWhat will your work environment be like?
