We are seeking an experienced and motivated Supervisor, Diagnostic Imaging, to oversee the daily operations on Specialized Medicine, Level 4. This critical leadership role ensures efficient workflow, staff coordination, and adherence to best practices in patient-centered care, while contributing to quality improvement, compliance, and strategic planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) :

  • Multidisciplinary Oversight : Supervise daily operations and staffing across multiple areas including imaging, Cardiac Diagnostics (e.g., ECG, Echo, Holter), Bone Density , and Respirology (e.g., Pulmonary Function Testing) . Ensure efficient workflows, resource allocation, and service delivery.
  • Staff Supervision : Oversee recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and professional development for technologists and support staff across all disciplines.
  • Clinical Quality & Compliance : Monitor modality volumes, wait times, and productivity. Ensure all services meet regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards, including preparation for Cardiac Care Network (CCN) and other governing body reviews.
  • Operational Efficiency & Improvement : Optimize workflows and staffing models; validate EPR processes and billing practices; lead or support quality improvement initiatives across diagnostic and clinical testing areas.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration : Liaise with physicians, department managers, and medical leads to align operational goals with clinical care needs. Participate in interdepartmental projects and hospital committees.
  • Patient Safety & Advocacy : Promote a culture of safety, equity, and respect in patient care, while maintaining high standards in documentation, communication, and compliance.

As a role model and champion you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized College Diploma is required, preferably in one of the following related disciplines : Cardiac Diagnostics, Bone Density, Respirology, Pulmonary Function.
  • Registration in good standing with the applicable professional regulatory body is required. Undergraduate degree is preferred.
  • Certification or formal training in Project Management, Financial Planning, or Healthcare Leadership (asset).
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on clinical experience in diagnostic imaging within a hospital or comparable healthcare setting is required.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years in a supervisory or team lead role , with proven ability to manage, coach, and support a multidisciplinary team (required).
  • Experience in operational planning, scheduling, and resource allocation in a clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards and regulatory compliance processes related to diagnostic imaging services.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, empower, and support professional development among staff.
  • Ability to set and manage performance expectations , address staff issues appropriately, and conduct performance evaluations in collaboration with HR and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, implement new processes, and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of imaging modalities and diagnostic testing and diagnostic workflows.
  • Experience using hospital information systems, EPIC and electronic patient records (EPR) .
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; ability to use data to improve patient flow, wait times, and clinical efficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with staff, physicians, patients, and hospital leadership.
  • Ability to develop and deliver orientation, training, and educational materials .
  • Proven attendance and punctuality.
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all.
