Description

This role is responsible for leading a team of Investment Management professionals, charged with asset accumulation, preservation and revenue growth, while delivering a differentiated HNW planning experience.

Primary Businesses : Private Investment Advice, Private Investment Counsel.

CUSTOMER :

  • Ensure client needs are fully assessed and that referrals to other areas of TD are made smoothly and effectively
  • Negotiate and execute an annual branch business plan and review individual business plan from each Investment Advisor
  • Plan and document marketing and business development activities, review and communicate results and adjust plan accordingly
  • Identify and develop relationships with TD Canada Trust, TD Wealth Partners and external referral sources to build sales and market share
  • Manage the branch budget / expenditures to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Fulfil annual Challenge Goals which include National and Branch specific goals. Challenge goals targets to be reviewed on an annual basis
  • Engage advisors and support staff in ongoing endeavour to provide a legendary Client Experience
  • Oversee / direct the negotiation and resolution of significant client issues

SHAREHOLDER :

  • Work closely with key business leaders to develop business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources and leverage TD’s operating model to maximize efficiency, effectiveness and scale
  • Plan and execute business development activities, review and communicate results, and adjust tactics accordingly
  • Execute on the annual business plan to deliver results aligned with business strategies
  • Manage overall budget, revenue and expenditures, meet business objectives while increasing efficiency and effectiveness
  • Proactively identify key business opportunities, research and recommend enhancements / modifications, develop strategies to achieve recommendations and work closely with team to execute and implement
  • Monitor and communicate the effectiveness of strategies, programs, and practices related to own area of expertise
  • Protect the interests of the organization identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
  • Ensure employees are knowledgeable; and assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct

EMPLOYEE TEAM :

  • Lead a highly qualified and collaborative team of Investment Management professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of business segment and / or enterprise functional strategic priorities within their operational area or field of specialty
  • Develop annual and / or long term plans for own area and influences plans well beyond area managed
  • Responsible for management of the overall team providing both leadership and guidance
  • Set targets and objectives for the team, and deliver results
  • Grow team expertise to align with business / enterprise demand and direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered
  • Lead a high performing team; provide on-going feedback and performance reviews, coach and develop employees and ensure performance management activities are undertaken and provide regular input into employee assessments and development plans
  • Lead the process of setting performance objectives for the team; track, monitor and effectively address and / or reward performance in a timely manner
  • Manage employees in compliance with all human resources policies, procedures and guidelines of conduct
  • Share knowledge, information, skills, and subject matter expertise among the team and ensure the timely communication of issues and encourage good working relationships with other functions and teams
  • Support an environment where team freely escalates business challenges; facilitate change through positive reinforcement of milestones and successes
  • Recruit for all hires to ensure a highly diverse, qualified workforce to achieve business objectives
  • Establish and foster a cohesive team; promote a fair and inclusive environment that supports a diverse workforce and encourage the team to achieve common goals and objectives
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the business area / function and the bank, both internally and / or externally

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Oversee and lead a large and / or highly complex and diverse reporting function for an area of significant risk, complexity or scope while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business results
  • Provide coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
  • Manage and oversee the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices

  • Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and;

identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas

  • Facilitate key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and / or deliverables / frameworks / short to long term goals etc.)
  • Set operational team direction and collaborate with others to execute on common goals
  • Focus on longer-range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
  • Generally reports to Region Head executive

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION :

  • Undergraduate university degree
  • 10+ years of Sales Leadership experience
  • Registered with CIRO as a Registered Representative and Supervisor, including but not limited to Option & Derivatives Supervisor, Portfolio Manager
  • Life Insurance license (LLQP)
