At our facility in Surrey you can develop your full potential, sustainably, by applying your expertise within the team as the HR Advisor  :

This position is responsible, with overall direction and guidance from the Human Resources Manager and working closely with the management team in the BC markets, for supporting and assisting with all human resources matters

  • Assist managers and / or supervisors in dealing with employee issues. Prepare documentation, provide advice and / or prepare letters / memos related to individual employee issues or situations.
  • Work with HR centers of expertise with the full-cycle recruitment process including placing ads, prescreening resumes / applications, conducting preliminary interviews, arranging interview schedules, completing the necessary background checks, pre-employment, and preparing letters of offer, etc.
  • Manage the relationship with the staffing agencies to ensure they understand our staffing requirements and our need for qualified employees.
  • Assists with developing appropriate human resource polices and procedures. Ensure that managers, supervisors and employees are aware of and are complying with the Company’s human resources policies and procedures.
  • Assists with administering the employee performance review process, ensuring that Managers and / or Supervisors are given adequate training, guidance, and information for them to be completed effectively and following-up to ensure that performance reviews are being completed as required.
  • Assist with Community involvement, employee engagement and mental health initiatives.
  • Ensure the maintenance of adequate employee records and personnel files in accordance with legal and Company requirements.
  • Provide managers and supervisors with the relevant information, training, payroll and resources they need to carry out their human resources responsibilities.
  • Work with managers on succession planning, performance management, collective agreement interpretation.
  • Support the engagement of your unit’s human resources based on Cascades’ values and business strategy

    Experience : Two to three years’ previous human resources or related experience in an industrial environment is required. A good knowledge of manufacturing plant operations, policies, union knowledge and safety procedures would be a definite asset.

  • Demonstrates discretion and has a positive and professional demeanor
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and change focused environment
  • Excellent relationship builder and ability to establish and navigate partnerships
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to make effective presentations, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to demonstrate above average knowledge and use of the following computer programs : Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc.
  • Knowledge of appropriate legislative requirements and standards
