Job description

Job Summary :

This Business Analyst position requires a skilled professional to provide comprehensive I&IT business analysis services to clients with diverse needs. The role involves interacting with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather, document, and analyze business requirements. The successful candidate will develop strategies, business cases, and cost-benefit analyses, and lead business analysis efforts across various project phases, aligning with established methodologies. A hybrid work model is required, with 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remotely.

Location : Ontario, Canada

Responsibilities :

  • Provide a comprehensive range of I&IT business analysis services.
  • Interact with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand requirements.
  • Prepare and advise on business analysis policies, processes, best practices, and standards.
  • Lead and conduct business analysis to assess client business problems / opportunities.
  • Document business requirements to enable I&IT solution determination.
  • Apply re-engineering concepts to improve business service delivery.
  • Develop strategies, prepare business cases and cost-benefit analyses, and conduct feasibility studies.
  • Develop processes for requirements gathering (JAD sessions, interviews, mockups, etc.).
  • Conduct business modeling, use case modeling, data modeling, process modeling, and define business rules.
  • Monitor progress, resolve problems, and report to I&IT management and stakeholders.
  • Develop performance measures and traceability matrices.
  • Develop documentation, including presentations and briefing notes, and conduct stakeholder engagement.

Required Skills & Certifications :

  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Proficiency in conducting Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions and brainstorming workshops for large web-based applications and data analytics solutions.
  • Skill in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting functional and non-functional requirements, business rules, use cases, and user stories.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in a large project setting.
  • Ability to write user stories with acceptance criteria using standard formats (e.g., As a [user], I want [goal], so that [benefit]).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred Skills & Certifications :

  • Experience with information retrieval packages.
  • Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
  • Ability to translate business and data requirements into technical specifications.
  • Experience with various business analysis methods, tools, and techniques (business functional modeling, business event modeling, business process mapping).
  • Experience with structured, object-oriented, and agile methodologies for user requirements.
  • Experience developing performance measures for business analysis evaluation and follow-up.
  • Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.
  • Experience using Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), MS Teams, Azure DevOps.
  • Experience creating business process diagrams, activity diagrams, and workflow models using tools like BPMN, Visio, or PowerDesigner.
  • Special Considerations :

  • Hybrid work model : 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.
  • Scheduling :

  • Hybrid schedule requiring 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remotely. Specific scheduling details may be discussed further during the interview process.
