JOB OPPORTUNITY

Location : New Westminster Campus

Salary Range : $71,846 to $115,129 annually. Salary scale and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The Opportunity

Accessibility Services is looking for a coordinator for the Accessibility Services faculty. Accessibility Services advises the college on disability issues, facilitates individual accommodations for students, and works collaboratively to identify and remove barriers in the learning environment. The team consists of faculty who plan accommodations for students with disabilities and staff who provide exam accommodations, accessible course materials, communication access, and assistive technology accommodations. Accessibility Services is part of the Student Affairs and Services department and helps students access and navigate other services such as Counseling, Advising, Financial Aid, Indigenous Services, and Student Life.

What It Takes

Accessibility Services is looking for a coordinator for the Accessibility Services faculty. Accessibility Services advises the college on disability issues, facilitates individual accommodations for students, and works collaboratively to identify and remove barriers in the learning environment. The team consists of faculty who plan accommodations for students with disabilities and staff who provide exam accommodations, accessible course materials, communication access, and assistive technology accommodations. Accessibility Services is part of the Student Affairs and Services department and helps students access and navigate other services such as Counseling, Advising, Financial Aid, Indigenous Services, and Student Life.

Support the Accessibility Services Faculty

  • Plan and deliver onboarding and orientation of new faculty.
  • Initiate and facilitate regular faculty meetings; collect agenda items, include Responsible Administrator when appropriate, invite relevant guests, ensure distribution of minutes, track decisions made, and monitor progress of actions arising from meetings.
  • Schedule case consultation meetings.
  • Meet regularly with the Responsible Administrator.
  • In collaboration with the Responsible Administrator, establish and monitor caseloads; access and provide caseload statistics when required.
  • Collect and respond to vacation and professional development requests; develop, maintain, and share up‑to‑date calendar ensuring delivery of services.
  • Engage faculty in conversations that identify and share opportunities and priorities for group professional development.
  • Initiate and coordinate Evaluation Committee performance evaluations of faculty according to the Collective Agreement.
  • Support Service Delivery

  • In collaboration with the Responsible Administrator, Operations Supervisor, and other partners, review and enhance services and procedures to maintain currency in the field and ensure compliance with the Douglas College policy : Accessibility to College Programs, Courses, and Services for Persons with Disabilities.
  • In collaboration with the Responsible Administrator and Operations Supervisor, compile, review, and revise Accessibility Services service‑delivery guidelines and maintain a repository of service resources, guidelines, and processes.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Supervisor, support effective communication and collaboration between the Faculty and Staff roles and responsibilities.
  • In collaboration with Future Students Office, provide information and transition support to prospective students and families.
  • Coordinate schedule and process for quality assurance, maintenance, and updates of Clockworks.
  • Support SAS Department

  • Ensure faculty initiatives and projects reflect strategic priorities and resources across the SAS department.
  • Participate in SAS departmental planning and projects.
  • Advise on resource needs of the Faculty group for consideration in budget planning and management.
  • Review with Responsible Administrator annual Ed Plans, to ensure faculty perspectives and requests are represented.
  • Support Accessibility Services Relationships with Internal and External Stakeholders

  • Respond to general inquiries and facilitate information sessions to members of the post‑secondary community as requested.
  • Support faculty in building awareness and partnerships with relevant departmental faculty and faculty groups.
  • Develop, deliver, and facilitate delivery of workshops for Accessibility Services on relevant topics for students and colleagues.
  • Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Educational Psychology or an equivalent discipline such as Special Education, Psychology, Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation, or Disability Studies.
  • Experience working on an Accessibility Services team in post‑secondary, conducting and interpreting assessments, planning and implementing individual services, and managing a diverse caseload.
  • Experience working collaboratively with academic and administrative units within the framework of collective agreements, policies, and procedures specific to higher education.
  • Skills in building consensus and collaboration within a peer group, including facilitating effective team meetings.
  • Project management skills, including management of time, competing priorities, communication with stakeholders, and deliverables.
  • Ability to design and deliver workshops, presentations, and learning activities to a variety of student, faculty, and community audiences.
  • Ability to identify and support technological solutions and innovations in service delivery.
  • Ability to work within and promote a social model of disability; knowledge of duty to accommodate and accessibility legislation in BC and best practices in the field.
  • Leadership experience is an asset.

    There are 4 sections of release time (50% FTE) for this position from May 19, 2026 to May 18, 2027.
