Position Details

The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) serves more than 36000 students across school communities in Oakville Burlington Milton and Halton Hills (Georgetown and Acton). Through the HCDSB Social Work department students and caregivers are supported to enhance student well-being and academic success.

We are seeking qualified Social Workers to be placed in a casual pool to fill short-term vacancies during the school year. Successful candidates may be offered contracts of up to eight (8) weeks in length and based on the needs of the schools could be deployed anywhere within the Halton Region. This position is based on a thirty-five (35) hour week. Casual Social Workers will have the opportunity to apply for long-term temporary and/or permanent positions as they become available.

Salary: $65185 - $97497 (as per the Collective Agreement)

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Manager Social Work Social Workers are members of an integrated school team who liaise with a variety of stakeholders to ensure student success. Social Workers provide direct service and consultation to students and caregivers through counselling community referrals and coordinating with school staff to meet student needs. As part of a multi-disciplinary school team Social Workers also provide consultation around strategies to enhance student engagement.

• Masters degree in social work or equivalent; registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers (RSW).
• Successful related clinical experience including strong CBT and DBT skills.
• Competency in group skills and individual counselling skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal.
• Experiences in working with a range of special education exceptionalities.
• An understanding of assessment and evaluation procedures.
• Capacity to engage members of diverse communities and skilled in a variety of consultation techniques protocols and strategies.

This position is covered by the A.P.S.S.P Collective Agreement.
