Job Summary
Applications are invited for Pharmacy Technician positions with NLHS-Central Zone for various sites / departments.
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible and accountable for the technical functions of pharmacy operations. Duties include measuring, packaging & labelling pharmaceuticals, re-stocking nursing units, filling and checking prescriptions, delivering narcotics and other medications, preparation of IV solutions including chemotherapy, ordering from pharmaceutical companies, compounding, record keeping / maintenance for narcotics and other medications, BPMH collections and other assigned duties. Work is challenging and requires accuracy. Computer skills are required to perform most duties. The Pharmacy Technician may also be required to perform OH&S duties related to the new hazardous drugs standards. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
