Job Summary
As a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Team, you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety, and striving to exceed client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Dry / wet mop (wash / scrub) and polish hard surface floors.
- Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment (when required).
- Steam clean or shampoo carpets (when required).
- Transport garbage from drop points to bins or compactor.
- Transport maintenance machinery between floors and job sites.
- Clean and store equipment and machinery used.
- Clean glass areas that require ladders, scaffolding, or other extension equipment.
- Clean washroom floors, including stripping and finishing.
- Clean stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required.
- Load and unload supplies and replenish cleaning solutions.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow-melting chemicals (when required).
Job Requirements
Experience in performing cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutional environment.Experience in using floor maintenance machines and cleaning equipment.Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS.Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items and climb ladders.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, and the public.Willingness and ability to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as assigned, and in multiple locations.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and prepare and maintain manual and electronic records.Licenses and Professional Accreditation
Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable.Must have a valid Class G license (may be required).Physical Demands
