We are seeking a HR Partner, Immigration and Grants to support our ongoing and fast-paced operational groups across North America. This role is related to our operational success and requires a mature, self-driven professional who can support multiple stakeholders in a changing environment.
This role will appeal to a dynamic professional who has a demonstrated ability to connect with various levels of stakeholders. This individual will not only be able to effectively manage multiple projects and drive consistency in a highly operational environment but do so across multiple legal jurisdictions, both in Canada and the United States, while understanding key foundational programs that best fit GFL’s business model. Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Director, the HR Partner, Immigration and Grants will impact the implementation of immigration strategy, in alignment with the overall organization, while sourcing and delivering on various government grant opportunities.
Job Duties
- Immigration-related SupportAssessing immigration requests for both individual and organizational clientsProviding initial guidance and redirecting to relevant supports regarding the suitable immigration pathways and opportunitiesPreparing and filing immigration applications and supporting documents with government agenciesCoordinating legal advice, guidance, and representation to clients on Canadian and American immigration mattersResearching and interpreting evolving immigration laws, regulations, and policies across both Canada and the United StatesReporting, tracking and monitoring clients' immigration cases, projects and applications.Ensuring robust and accurate internal processes are implemented, maintained, or evolved to drive consistency, visibility and accuracy.Coordinating with relevant government officials, employers, and other stakeholders in the immigration processEnsuring compliance with legal and ethical standards in immigration practice
- Government GrantsSourcing and pursuing appropriate governmental grants and programs to augment and support both individual situations and organizational objectives, across both Canada and the United StatesPreparing, filling and articulating GFL’s business case for various government grants, following up as needed while ensuring proper documentation is maintained throughout the life cycle of the individual grant.Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to ensure grant visibility and successes are properly articulated and marketed.Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
A high degree of comfort in an operational and evolving business environment.Strong knowledge of both Canadian and American immigration laws and policies, with experience managing immigration cases from start to finish across multiple legislated jurisdictions.Established history of identifying, pursuing and obtaining relevant grant awards from various levels of government.Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; Project Management experience and / or education is beneficial.Experience working with relevant government agencies and departments, as well as non-governmental agencies and third-party vendors.Experience collaborating with diverse clients and cultures, applying appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently with a high attention to detail alongside strong organizational abilities.
