Vulcraft Canada Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for a FULL-TIME Civil / Structural Design Engineer in our Leduc, AB location.

BASIC FUNCTIONS :

  • Ensure the needs of customers are met and service their requirements.
  • Review contract documents including structural and architectural drawings and project specifications to extract all pertinent information.
  • Perform engineering design calculations for the design of open-web steel joists and steel deck products to meet or exceed the requirements of the project, applicable building codes, specifications, and safety standards in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Provide direction and technical support to detailers, shop orders, and production teammates. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, including other design professionals.
  • Communicate and coordinate job requirements externally with customers, architects, engineers, contractors and internally with various departments of the plant.
  • Assist project managers and sales personnel; provide sales & service coordination for engineering, fabrication, and delivery.
  • Other duties assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  • BSc or MSc / MEng in Civil Engineering, emphasis in Structural Design preferred.
  • Canadian resident with the ability to travel across North America.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in structural design or similar.

  • Accountability & Dependability - Displays responsibility, reliability, is committed to fulfilling work obligations and can hold others accountable for desired results. A demonstrated ability and desire to manage multiple time-sensitive projects successfully.
  • Teamwork - Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal.
  • PREFERENCES :

  • Ability to obtain designation within 6 months of hire. (, AB., SK., Man.)
  • CWB Welding Engineer certification or willingness and ability to obtain.
  • Engineering experience in Steel Joist and deck business or structural steel fabrication and erection environment is an asset.
  • Good understanding of the National Building Code of Canada and relevant CSA standards.
  • Site and shop inspection experience with a QA background is an asset.
  • Superior language skills, both written and oral. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with SAP, RISA, MS office, or other structural analysis software.
