The Custody Services Division - Workforce Planning and Development Branch seeks dynamic, self-motivated, highly organized and committed professionals to assume the role of Training Specialist.

In this exciting role you will contribute to the development of training materials (including web-based e-learning modules), facilitate learning and development initiatives to new and existing employees and support the division’s ongoing recruitment, training and retention strategies.

Our ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of :

• Custody and community operations (youth and adult), departments and programs;
• Relevant legislation, policy and standards;
• Correctional programs, services and practices;
• Human resource principles – competency based staffing model;
• Adult learning principles, theories, methodologies, strategies and approaches;
• Group dynamics and group facilitation / presentation / practices / techniques;
• Curriculum development and implementation processes; and
• Multi-cultural beliefs, values and perspectives, with a particular emphasis on First Nations and Metis issues.

You will be an exceptional communicator and possess the following skills and attributes :

Typically, the competencies for this position are acquired through successful completion of a human services or education degree coupled with experience designing and delivering training materials or programs to adult learners.

Experience facilitating correctional concepts / theories and physical skills training within a custody or community environment would be seen as an asset.
