Job description

Overview

We are currently looking for a full-time Human Resources Manager to join our Team. This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the development and delivery of all human resources policies, programs and initiatives to 200 non-union employees.

Relocation assistance maybe provided as required. A shared company house is available close to our location on a temporary basis if needed.

As part of the management team you will be responsible for :

Overseeing recruitment and onboarding processes, including job postings, candidate selection, and orientation of new hires including temporary foreign workers.

Providing expertise, support, and advice in all aspects of HR including employee relations, onboarding, performance management, leave management, discipline and compensation and benefits administration.

Being accessible to employees and ensuring follow up on issues and concerns in a timely manner.

Being active in the community, identifying activities to promote Freeman Lumber in the community.

Advising and counseling leaders to prevent or resolve workplace issues; conduct investigations as required, coach and support leaders and recommend appropriate solutions.

Coordinating training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and knowledge.

Managing the development, implementation and administration of human resource policies and procedures. Communicate and interpret policies and procedures as necessary to all employees.

Developing and maintaining external website and social media platforms.

Ensuring compliance with employment laws (Provincially and Federally).

Collecting, analyzing and reporting on key HR metrics.

Maintaining HR records including personnel files.

Qualification :

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Human Resources.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including talent management, employee relations and community engagement.
  • HR experience in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset

Skills :

  • Knowledge of Nova Scotia Labour Standards
  • Experience in developing Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Significant experience in talent management including hard to fill positions
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated HR statistical reporting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership abilities
