Summary :
Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavator Operator is responsible for experienced operation of an Excavator in an open pit mine worksite, or on a Civil Construction worksite. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment / pre-access testing.
Key Focuses :
- Operate an excavator to excavate, move, and load earth, gravel, rock, or other materials during mining related activities in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct pre-operational and post-operational checks on equipment, keep equipment clean, and perform basic maintenance or lubrication as required.
- Accept instructions as directed, and adjust work / strategy according to changing conditions, policies and procedures as needed.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, provide suggestions for improvement and safety.
- Perform any related and / or additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required :
Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license is required3 year Drivers Abstract is requiredCSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is requiredExcavator operation (over / under 180 tons) is required.Ability to speak, write and read English is requiredThis is a temporary position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the Kearl Oil Sands Site.
Work schedule is 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. hour shift
