Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Full-time Insolvency Administrator (internally known as Division 1 and Ordinary Proposals Administrator) to join our Sheppard office. The individual in this role will administer division 1 proposal and ordinary bankruptcy files.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all matters relating to the current administration of Division 1 and Ordinary bankruptcy estates including but not limited to :
Prepare Report to Court and court application package and schedule court hearings for division 1 proposals including dealing with court endorsements;
Draft Report to Creditors and Notice to Creditors for proposal and Trustee’s Preliminary report to creditors for bankruptcy;Schedule all meeting of creditors for both proposal and bankruptcy estates;Prepare and send out Notice of Stay if applicable;Monitor payments and other division 1 proposal terms, where applicable;Upon court approval, send out 30 days notice;Attend to interim dividends if needed;Deal with various estate banking requests;Assist in various close-out matters re Trustee’s discharge and taxation if needed;Attend to creditors’ and debtors’ enquiries, bring complex ones up to the trustee’s attention;Co-ordinate all court hearings among Trustees and lawyers within different jurisdictions;Deal with all complex matters related to proof of claim, including, preparation of the notice of disallowanceAttend to creditors’ and debtors’ enquiries—bring complex enquires to the trustee’s attention;Deal with various estate banking requests;Other duties incidental to the file administration;Answer inquires from junior staff;Other duties as may be required.Deal (or assist) with all matters relating to the closing of corporate bankruptcy or Division 1 estates including but not limited to :
Reviews all prior / pre / post bankruptcy returns filed by the tax department am make sure all the statutory returns are filed properly;
Review claims submitted by creditors; ensure each claim is filed correctly and as applicable, admit claim or prepare Notice of Disallowance for approval by Trustee; Admit claims, as appropriate;Review assets file folder in the ordinary bankruptcy and make sure all assets have been disposed properly, send S38 notice as appropriate;Preparation of the Trustee’s Final Statement of Receipts and Disbursements (R&D)Preparation of the Trustee’s final billings;Preparation of Inspector’s final meeting and approval of the R&D and Trustee’s fees;Assemble and efile documents to be sent to the Official Receiver for Letter of Comment;Assemble the Trustee’s taxtation packageDeal with the taxation process at the Court, including the assembly of all documents required for taxation if needed;Preparation of Affidavit of Mailing where applicable;Prepare Application of Trustee for Discharge and Order Discharging Trustee and arrange for documents to be sent to the Court when needed;Qualifications
Previous experience in dealing with division 1 proposal and ordinary bankruptcy administration is an assetPrevious experience in the insurance, health care, or legal industryProven background dealing with attention to detail and multi-taskingOrganizational skills to organize workloadGood oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with staff, inspectors, creditors and OSBAnalytical skills to analyse account activitiesInterpersonal skills to deal with team members and staffExcellent computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)Familiar with insolvency software Ascend and other software such as ProSystemCompensation, Benefits, and Perks
