Job description

Are you a seasoned leader in rental operations with a strong background in the heavy equipment or construction industry? Our client in Brampton, ON is looking for a General Manager to lead their Equipment Rental Program across multiple locations.

Position Overview :

As the GM of Rentals, you will be instrumental in supervising and optimizing Rental Operations. Your role will involve strategic planning and execution of Rental Fleet management, collaborating with key stakeholders, and driving asset performance and profitability. You will lead a dynamic team and working closely with upper management.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee and optimize fleet planning, including balancing fleet additions, disposals, and forecasting.
  • Ensure overall fleet optimization by analyzing key metrics and making data-driven decisions.
  • Lead and assist in special projects, managing rental reports, and tracking fleet utilization.
  • Conduct monthly ROI reviews, identify and address underperforming assets, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Supervise daily rental operations, manage growth, and handle financial reporting and business metrics.
  • Develop and implement rental business and marketing plans, manage commissions, and enhance continuous improvement within operations.
  • Build and manage annual rental budgets, oversee staff training, and maintain safety and risk management standards.
  • Ideal Candidate :

  • Extensive experience (3-5 years) in a similar role within the heavy equipment or construction industry, with 5-10 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven expertise in fleet management, operational leadership, and financial oversight.
  • Exceptional communication and team management skills with a customer-centric approach.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities, with a mindset for continuous improvement and business acumen.
  • Relevant post-secondary degree / diploma in Commerce, Business Management, or related field.
  • Qualifications :

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and grow rental operations with a focus on high performance and safety.
  • Sound knowledge of the local market and experience in sales-driven environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a solid understanding of industry-specific software and practices.
